Gunsmiths of Liberty, LLC was founded by Marine Corps veteran, Jake. Being a Kansas City native, he grew up enjoying hunting & shooting sports. While in the Marine Corps, he was a squad leader in the infantry, making a few deployments to the middle east. In his final year he had the pleasure of being on the 29 Palms shooting team and held the billets at the range as NCOIC of the range and was the lead school house instructor. It was at this time that his interest in firearms turned into a passion. Jake started to put himself around others who where in the field of gunsmithing, both inside and outside of the military. From doing that, Jake’s passion for firearms tuned into an obsession with working on firearms.

After leaving the Marine Corps, he promptly attended the Colorado School of Trades. Spending as much time at the school as the staff would allow, his goal was to leave the school with as much knowledge as he could get. With diploma in hand, now he really went to work with moving back home and getting his shop built. That was a lot of work in itself, and this is where family really comes into play - from landscaping, to painting, to framing, there was not a member of his family who was not instrumental in the success of the shop being completed.

The distinct shop layout sets it apart from your regular gunsmithing shop where everything happens behind closed doors. Jake remembers when he first got into gunsmithing, the simplest things like a pile of gun parts in a container would fascinate him. Thinking, how does that guy know what spring goes where, or how does he know if he is missing a part or not. In the shop, you'll have a full view of the workshop and benches. He figured, if he thinks it interesting then another might as well.

Jake looks at the work he performs not as being technicians, but as craftsmen. The attention to detail and constant pursuit of perfection & precision is something that is put into every job that lands on his bench, whether it be as simple as installing a set of sights or a full ground up build. He will put the same level of quality and precision workmanship into every job, as if it was his own personal firearm.
